Compaq is infamous for gratuitous incompatibilities. On your average
Compaq PC, everything from the motherboard to the screws holding the case
together are completely non-standard. Good luck.
(To be completely honest, I have been told their consumer desktop systems
have improved recently, to the point where they are almost standard, but I
still don't trust 'em.)
