I don't know squat about power management, but like Steve Orr, I like
to shave with the latest kernels. I do know, however, that there has
been a LOT of discussion on the kernel mailing list about this topic,
and IIRC, it involved some of the AMD chips. So, take a look at:
http://www.uwsg.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/
And be prepared to go back roughly 2-4 weeks to get a feel for the
discussions.
