   This is one of the many reasons I carry a Sharpie with me at all times.  
I haven't noticed any problems using one on CDs, having done so literally 
hundreds of times.
   I have also used laser/inkjet labels with a CD Stomper or something 
similar.  They're nice for making a (somewhat) more professional looking 
disc, but they're a bit pricey.
