The VAX uses ReGIS commands to control the text and background colors on the terminal. The terminal itself is used in pure text mode, but the colors of the text and the background change as the status of the system changes. The application originally was written to run on a PDP-11. The terminal appearance is integrated into the plant's security manual and CAN'T be changed without major headaches. The emulation must be exact. > Are you replacing the VT340s because there is something wrong with them, > or just because you're replacing the VAX? There is nothing wrong with the VT-340s themselves NOW, but they are essentially unsupported, and will not last the expected lifespan of the system. > > Just for kicks, I did a quick google/linux search for 'vt340 emulation', > and came up with this link to redhat: > > http://www.redhat.com/apps/commerce/more_ao_applib_wrk.html > > The fifth item in the list 'CyberAcess SwitchTerm 4.3' claims to include > VT340 emulation. Well, at least DECNet is supported, so we're partway there. :o) Rich Cloutier SYSTEM SUPPORT SERVICES President, C*O www.sysupport.com ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
