I had a run of Sawfish deaths for awhile, usually a consequence of some program freeze up, local power outage, etc. I use GNOME 1.4 with Slackware8 (I never tried RH), so my filenames and paths may differ slightly. One thing that helps is to go to the GNOME Control Center Window Manager Option and select the "run configuration for Sawfish" at the bottom (DON'T select the from the options tree for Sawfish.) Save the configuration file from there. This assumes you can get it is running. You can get it going again while in a GNOME as session by kickin into action from the Session Properties & Start Up Programs section. Once running, Select "Save Current Session" after saving that Sawfish Configuration as above. All this is "voodoo," I realise. Sometimes, it is simpler just to delete your ~/.gnome/session* files and restart GNOME (That works quite well and you loose nothing. ~/.sawfish/seesions/ has a bunch of tempfiles it keeps and you might want to junk the bad ones. >- When I try to manually > start sawfish I get the following: > > > root@barrett /root]# sawfish > Xlib: extension "XINERAMA" missing on display ":0.0". > error--> (void-value PK\\\) > [root@barrett /root]# > Are you running XINERAMA? If not in /etc/X11/XF86Config try adding the following before the "Modules" Section. [Not sure if location matters.] Section "ServerFlags" Option "xinerama" "no" EndSection I also helped me to add ":0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X" to .Xresources in /etc/X11/xinit/ (or where ever you keep it). My X/GNOME is configuration is System-wide. > This system was working fine for months. It didn't > crash and subsequently loose any files (that I'm aware > of anyway). (I'm thinking about Nautilus especially. I don't allow N to draw the desktop, for example.) You can also try to run the Sawfish Conguration by left clicking on the empty desktop, if you don't have the panel. > Thanks in advance, > > Will Flagg > > > > > ***************************************************************** > To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. > ***************************************************************** -- =ksandre= "Gold is the corpse of value." _CRYPTONOMICON_ by Neal Stephenson ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
