I have a sound card question that I hope someone can shed some light on.
Yesterday I put an old ISA soundcard in my Athlon box (generic ESS ES1868
soundblaster card). I was able to run sndconfig without any errors and had a
functioning soundcard. Today none of the audio works anymore and when I run
sndconfig I get "An error occured opening /dev/audio".
I am running Mandrake 8.0, using their "HardDrake" utility for soundcard
configuration, it tells me it can't find the isa-pnp module when it tries a
modprobe. I find this to be odd.
The boot log shows:
Soundblaster audio driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996

sb: ISAPnP reports 'ESS ES1868 Plug and Play AudioDrive' at i/o 0x220, irq 7,

sb: Failed to initialize ESS ES1868 Plug and Play AudioDrive

Loading sound module (sb) succeeded
I checked the interrupts for conflicts but don't see one:

So why else would I get these errors during boot and not be able to modprobe
isa-pnp? Any ideas?
I'm running Mandrake 8.0 on an ABIT KT7A-RAID board.
Thanks,
-Mike-
