I'll leave the books and Web Sites for others to reference, but a "best kept secret" is the very large Java Users Group that meets at Sun Campus, Burlington MA once per month. Attendance is by registration because they usually "max out" at 220 members each month. I have attended ~3 (or 4) months ago before the Security (edict) Rule by Sun Management, when nearly 350 people attended the monthly meeting. With (typically) 3 presenters each meeting, and "the best there is" in terms of "what's happening in Java" and Enterprise Computing currently, it is a fruitful experience, each and every meeting... Even if you are not a Java Guru, but interested in learning what's going on in the world of Software Design and Development, or trying to figure out how you can enhance your career in "Computing", it still is a strong experience. So now, you can imagine that you'll meet lots of people who may in fact lead you to "an opportunity" ... There is also a (relatively) new Java User's Group that meets in Manchester N.H., and this group is growing. I have also seen some "most interesting" presentations on the utilization of Java in the marketplace at their meetings. Please read: www.nejug.org and www.manjug.org Sometime ago, I read a Whitepaper about the fact that: "Linux and Java is like a marriage made in heaven", so that is my motivation for taking the time to learn more about Java, even thought Linux and Operating Systems are my real love. Try it, you'll like it ... paulc P.S. I also like the free books and free pizza at the NEJug ... ***************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the text 'unsubscribe gnhlug' in the message body. *****************************************************************
