I know there are plenty of plugins for kivio, all commercial from 
what I've seen.  I'd even be willing to pay for them if they had what 
I wanted.

The nice thing about Visio was that they had vendor specific icons.  
I could place a Cisco 6500 on the diagram and then outfit it with the 
specific modules I had in it.  Then I could connect specific things 
like a Sun E4500, a NetApp, an Auspex, an HP K-series, etc.

Generic shapes will work, but they're not that impressive.  Mgmt 
likes to see pretty pictures.  I'm all for functionality over form,
but when form helps get you what you want... :)

It appears there's nothing with the appropriate amount of mgmt
- -appealing eye candy out there for Linux yet :(
