I'm hoping somebody with experience in the following can shed a little
light on something. I have a customer that is looking to have a website
designed, and makes use of an accounting package called "Accpac" for the
back end (inventory control, etc).

Accpac has been quite unhelpful (iow, ignoring repeated requests for
information wrt libraries for accessing their software from linux).
Thankfully, it appears that Accpac's backend database is Pervasive SQL
which has an ODBC driver available for linux/php.

Here's where my question comes in. Having never used ODBC at all
before, I'm a little confused on one point. I understand that ODBC is
designed to give a semi-consistent interface to different DBMS's, but
what is the difference between ODBC and unixODBC? Each of these appears
to be options when compiling PHP.

Thanks in advance folks. 8)
