Hi,
At the last MELBA meeting we had kind of a brainstorming mini-meeting about the
types of things that people would like to have as topics/speakers at one of
our events.
I copied them all (slowly) into my Palm Pilot, and I have included them here
for your information. I would encourage you to look at this list and then
send email to me of items that you would like to see, but which are missing
from the list.
Then I will roll them up and send them out again for people to say "Hey, I can
present that"....or in the case of a potpourri of something like "Demo Night',
"I could help organize that". And not to scare anyone off, but a little bit
of preparation, with a handout or so would be nice.
So here goes:
o Mail filtering (complete and end-all)
o Realtime
o Conferencing software (Video, whiteboard, audio, etc.)
o Demo night of various small applications (organization needed)
o Neat Hardware
o How to choose hardware
o How to choose hardware that works well with Linux
o Cablemodems: tricks of dealing with
o Marketing Linux to your: Boss, Someone Else's Boss (Maddog will take
this on)
o Licenses of Open Source (what do they mean)
o IPV6: what is it, will it ever arrive, and how to deal with it when
it does.
o Lilipad: Music typesetter
o e-commerce
o accounting software
o alan cox
o esr
o rms
o doc searles
o ken coar
[I am not sure if the last five are to give a talk about a topic
or just stand on the stage and glow...but this was brainstorming,
and I did not want to break the flow of consciousness to ask. - md]
o PHP - rasmus
o mySQL - nusphere
o intro to security
o perl
o IDE tools - Kylix
o JAVA - IBM
o Guile
o Glade
Remember, send in those e-cards and e-letters with your favorite topic on them
by MIDNIGHT, May 24th.
Thanks,
md
