This is _precisely_ what I was about to suggest to Elijah and Olav.
A few weeks ago I submitted a report to bugs.kde.org and they apply the
very same idea. I find it extremely useful -- perhaps we can ask for and borrow some code.
They ask for a precise brief description of the problem (and give
examples and ask the user to spend a minute on this) and then literally use
simpler-dup-finder and have the submitter check for a duplicate. I believe the search
was limited to 5 or 10 hits.

Results were impressive, but frankly I haven't tested Elijah's work yet :)
