My best suggestion is to take an existing plugin's project/makefile
and just modify it for your own.  Then you can easily install it like
a normal plugin.

Most people so far are quite pleased with running both side by side.
Once you get past the 'aw they arent integrated' moment you find out
generally speaking you arent missing anything. ;-)
