Even in the newly released 3.2 of Oracle's VM Virtualbox, GNOME Shell cannot be
used.
There was a thread in Virtualbox's forums about this issue, to which they
replied asking for which specific 3D OpenGL feature were used in order to work
on them.

Would anyone here be able to say which feature(s) need to work in Virtualbox in
order for GNOME Shell to work properly?
