Howdy all
just compiled the latest Gnome-shell build relayout from git....
In some ways it has some great improvements, but in other ways it is a step
back.... let me explain
Adding workspaces as you would know does not show all virtual desktops in
overview mode like it use to.........
is this going to change? or is this how it is going to be in the final?
Theres some obvious problems with mutter not being very smooth (nvidia 7800
gtx)
and there is a lot of blue screen buggyness when trying to do screencasts
of gnome-shell......
Dragging programs in the desired workspaces and organising them is awkward
now (due to the first problem i mentioned)
Not much right click support in top panel? is there going to be any feature
to rightclick panel and customise it in any way?
The left Dock widget for favourites gets really small as you add more
programs....(really looks ugly)
Any plans for that? btw, a nice little animation for the dock would be
beatiful ;)
I've seen this mentioned, but the System settings is all squished and you
can't open it properly
I've seen a demo where there was categories when in overview/applications
mode for eg: games, internet etc.... but is is not in the latest git build?
whats the go with that? It would be great if the categories for
applications was implemented
I really like the transparency of certain things like the "alt/tab"
widget.... any plans for making the top Panel transparent by default???
that would look excellent
Just a personal dislike.... but when in overview/applications mode.... the
applications box list only stretches to about 3quarters of the screen (to
the right) doesn't look quite right... will it be stretched?
And another personal dislike.... an open application shows a big ugly icon
on the top panel with the name off the app in big letters across the
panel.... any plans to improve the look of that?
Only about 4 months to go. Will be interesting to see what can be done
within that time frame..... Hope gnome-shell makes it into the final
release.......
sorry if any of this has been covered already.... i might of missed it
cheers for any feedback
symon.
