Exactly that's the problem. That's a big requirement. Impractical for
real world purpose. If the correct procedure for updating plugins to a
new gnome-shell version is to make a list of all API functions you call
and compare it to the list of changed API functions in the API
documentation, how many people will do it? Would guess the most widely
used procedure will become changing shell-version in the plugin metadata
and waiting for users to make bugreports :)
