I found some references to widgets on this page: https://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/Design/Whiteboards/Gizmos But it seems there are no plans to integrate widgets in the Gnome Shell experience.
Recent gnome-shell design mockups of the activitiies overview show a special "workspace" on thee top of the workspace sidebar to be eventually used for a "Finding and Reminding"-related functinonality (this is my interpretations from the mockup). Maybe there could be a special "workspace" for widgets too (something like Mac OS Lion Dashboard). Just an idea. :) 2011/6/22 Nick Glynn <[email protected]> > I love the development of the extensions that have been made possible with > Gnome Shell and it has me wondering - is there a goal to allow for the > development of widget style applications developed with a focus on > javascript/HTML in a similar vein to things like Yahoo!'s Widgets or is that > not a priority for gnome shell? > > I apologise if this has been covered/done to death but it only came to my > mind after seeing the recent Calculator app from the Elementary team and how > great it would be to have something like this given that a start on > centralising/auditing extensions on Gnome infrastructure has begun. > > Regards, > Nick > > _______________________________________________ > gnome-shell-list mailing list > [email protected] > http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-shell-list > >
