I've looked into it again, and nowadays it uses 'Ubuntu 22.04'[1] for that, so we can simply use the latest Trisquel version instead (Trisquel 11.0 LTS). Alternatively we could submit patches to not require another distribution to build the module and/or to use Guix for building it. If I recall well it is done in this way to increase compatibility with distributions as older modules probably work better in recent kernels than the opposite.
