Stop trying to expand the scope of rights under the GPL to infect works under independent copyright (in this case, Gottfried's program).
If it uses parts of a GPLed program, then it isn't independant. And since linking casues parts of a progarm to be used in another program in Gottfried's case, it cannot be considered an independant work.
