The Computer Science Research Group (1977-1995) at Berkeley was one
   of the root source communities underlying open source software.

Well, if you say so.  But, RMS already was quite entwined in a
community that had existed since atleast ten years before that,
hacking on the ITS.

But hey, maybe RMS invented a time-machine, and went forward in time,
to insist that what he does is not to be confused with another
movement...

(and you didn't answer my question, but then, what would one expect)
