That was just me opinion, as trying to look from a side of some specific women I know, they would prefer selling peanut butter face to face, rather then sitting and writing some stuff like programming. Women and men have both biological gender preferences in any kind of human activity. The problem is not related to GNU operating system in my opinion. It is general, historical and specific problem. Maybe this will help you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_computing#Gender_gap_in_computing Myself I do not see any real problem in gender cap, as it is something one cannot really control. It indicates that society's type and its culture is generaly to blame for gendera gaps. Maybe there are sucessful actions to learn from Saudi Arabia where women in computing reserve whole 59% There is disparity even though companies make campaigns to welcome everybody or establish policies against discrimination of any kind. You may initiate in your own community a type of computer club and invite people of all kind. When holding our computer club "Kosmos" I was never looking into gender. And we did have genders in two computer clubs that I was holding, one was in former Yugoslavia, second one was in Stuttgart, Germany. All kind of people were coming, including elder women and men who wanted to learn computing. Are you member of any computer users group?
