Nothing that depends on GNU Anything would experience a breakage
due to a newer version of GNU This or GNU-That.

The world would converge on a single version of GNU Autotools, and so
then people could just have that one version installed in order
to update ./configure script images with minimal diffs, instead
of having half a dozen versions installed and using the closest
matching one.
