I have a 1200 dpi printer and would like to print lilypond output at
maximum quality. Right now, it doesn't look like I am getting maximum
resolution. The fonts look pretty good (I think they are rendered at
600 dpi, from looking at the metafont messages) but the crescendos are
clearly rendered at much less than 600 dpi. Long ones, in particular,
are obviously "quantized". I know that in order to get 1200 dpi
performance, the fonts have to be created at 1200 dpi, and the
crescendos resolution must be increased. Is this a configuration
issue of tex, metafont, or lilypond? Maybe it is the printer setup?
I don't know where to look and am hoping for some advice from the
readers of this list.
By the way, my printer is an HP Laserjet-5000. I got it to print
lilypond scores, and I think it is a great printer for the job. I
print all my scores on 11x17 paper, and the feta fonts look great.
If anybody else is thinking about buying a printer for this purpose, I
might be able to answer specific questions in regards to the printer
and lilypond working together. Also, I know how to get the printer to
print on 11x17 with postscript commands. I had a heck of a time
getting the details out of HP, and I would save anybody reading this
that trouble.
