Alain, your dvi-file does not look fine in my dvi-viewer (yap) either. I
observe all kinds of strange note heads (diamond and cross shaped) and clefs
(a kind of round "C"). The locations of the notes on the staffs seem
correct.
When I compile angels.ly myself with lilypond, I get correct output.

I downloaded lilypond (GNU LilyPond 1.2.0.jbr1, Win95 binaries) only last
week.

Te next thing I've done is comparing the dvi files (using dvitype and some
unix text tools). Observation: your angles.dvi (I called it strangels.dvi
;-) ) uses other characters from the feta20 font than my angels.dvi. E.g.,
the first few notes from feta20 (output from sdiff; left my angels.dvi,
right your strangels.dvi):

: setchar50                             : setchar50
: setchar50                             : setchar50

Note that the setchar commands from font feta-nummer10 agree (the \time 2/2;
ASCII 50 is "2").

Somewhere in the trace ly-file -> lilypond -> tex-file -> tex -> dvi-file
the wrong characters are selected from the feta20 font. If we can compare
your and my angels.tex we may be able to conclude if the anomaly is caused
by lilypond (then the tex files will differ significantly) of by tex.

I fear that there has been a renumbering of the characters in the feta20
font for some reason.
