Hi, and hello Han-Wen,
I tried 1.3.72 on the harmonium part of Dvorak's first Bagatelle,
because there are _lots_ of ties there. I must say that I liked the
old ties (as in lily's early 40s, I think) much better. IMHO they are
too steep now. The starting and end points are a bit too low for my
taste. What's strange, too, is that the position differs, compare
bars 57/58 and 59/60. For this case, I would say the ties should start
and end above the second staff line (the tied note is an f, there).
In bar 71, the tie between the a flats is *very* small, but I don't know
if this should be improved by moving the endpoints or increasing the
distance of the notes (augmenting the 'spring power' between them).
I haven't tried the last 20 or so versions, so I don't know what was
improved in the tie handling. You asked for comments, I'm sorry that
I can only write negative ones; please don't be offended!
Greetings, Dirk.
