Wow. Thanks Han-Wen, I'm compiling it now. Incidentally, the test for
the kpathsea stuff is not that succesful in the more recent versions
of the configure code. Recent versions of teTeX have been putting
their stuff in /usr/local/teTeX, and I had made a symbolic link to
/usr/local/include/kpathsea.h and /usr/local/lib/libkpathsea.a which
allowed early versions of lily to compile.
But the present version doesn't use -I/usr/local/include etc., in the
test, so the kpathsea test fails even for this common case.
Not sure what the best solution is. For now, I'm setting environment
variables for the compiler which works, but that's probably not the
best solution long term.
