There are some spelling errors in the docs easily correctible with
search.
Don't feel bad, many for whom English is the mother tongue have
problems with this mess.  :-)  

Singular              Plural           Verb
----------            ------------     ----------- 
staff (musical)       staves           staff, staffed, staffing
                                       he staffs = he draws
                                       staves.

staff (assistants)    staffs           staff, he staffs =
                                       he hires assistants

staff (shepherd's     staves           none.  Use drag, smite,
crook in the Bible,                    hit.
or big stick
otherwise)

stave (barrel part)   staves           stave in, stove in,
                                       staving in
                                      (refers to breaking barrels
                                       and barrel staves)
                                       he staves = he makes
                                       barrel staves.

half                  halves           halve halved halving
                                      (meaning to divide in two)
halve = no such noun.
half = no such verb.
halfs = no such word.
