In my home directory, I found my .vtclrc file, and this is what is in
it:

set vTcl(geometry,.vTcl) 514x84+69+6
set vTcl(geometry,.vTcl.toolbar) 1x1+68+118
set vTcl(geometry,.vTcl.ae) 333x419+938+256
set vTcl(geometry,.vTcl.proclist) 200x200+885+28
set vTcl(gui,showlist) ".vTcl .vTcl.toolbar .vTcl.ae .vTcl.proclist"
set vTcl(pr,show_top) -1
set vTcl(pr,show_var) -1
set vTcl(pr,shortname) 1
set vTcl(pr,manager) place
set vTcl(pr,getname) 0
set vTcl(pr,geom_comm) 350x200
set vTcl(pr,geom_proc) 500x400
set vTcl(pr,attr_on) 1
set vTcl(pr,encase) list
set vTcl(pr,font_fixed) {Courier 10}
set vTcl(pr,font_dlg) {Helvetica 18}
set vTcl(pr,info_on) 1
set vTcl(pr,balloon) 1
set vTcl(pr,geom_on) 1
set vTcl(pr,show_func) 1
set vTcl(pr,winfocus) 0
set vTcl(pr,saveglob) 0

now, I realize that we don't have it quite so easy as "set" commands
for variables, but something like this could be done with gnucash to
put things back where they were when we closed them. some things
which I do repeatedly are open the stocks group, open checking
register, resize them, resize the main account window, things like
that.
