Thanks, I'll check it out as soon as I have a chance.
I put together a port of 1.3.3 last night and figured out the
right way to work around the problems I was having by explicitly
setting CPPFLAGS and LIBS in the CONFIGURE_ENV variable in the
port makefile.
If anyone is interested in the port, I can send it out. I'll get
around to submitting it to the ports tree soon.
