I've been reviewing the archives on doing QIF imports trying to figure
out why I'm having problems only to see that others doing imports from
Quicken 98 seem to have it working. I'm trying to do an initial
import of my Quicken data in order to migrate off Quicken, but the
results are not very satisfactory.
I'm using GnuCash 1.3.4 under RedHat 6.1. I installed from the source
RPM. We use Quicken 98 (R5) on my wife's Mac. After exporting, I
converted carriage-returns to newlines and then tried to load it into
GnuCash. The load appears to work fine but the assignments are way
off. Things were so badly off, I decide to try it with a smaller
sample. Instead of dumping our 4+ years of quicken data, I just
picked the current year. But, for example, we have a newly opened
escrow account that has a grand total of 5 transactions. GnuCash
concludes it has 585 transactions.
I get a lot of messages like so:
qif-file:read-file : unknown Account slot X
qif-file:read-file : unknown Account slot B
which I am naively assuming can be ignored.
Under Quicken's export options, I had it export everything except
budgets.
Any suggestions?
