It's not a matter of how many transactions are in the file. It's a matter
of how many are entered via the register window. Running top, I can see
the server grow with each entry I put in...

It's a hard one. In the good old days I would have pulled out xscope, but
that seems to have gone off into the open source sunset. There's a thing
called xmon out there; I'm going to try to watch the conversation with the
server and see if anything obvious jumps out at me. Don't know what my
chances of success are.
