I never even _indirectly_ implied anything bad about XML.

It seems to me that XML could be a nearly ideal format for the
purpose; it does, in serialized form, ahppen to be a text format,
and thus fits _perfectly_ with the comments I made.

The libxml integration work would involve additional work; if it
proved easier to use the Guile parser to parse input data, that
would establish good cause to pick that instead.
