Sorry for the shorthand.  JE==Journal Entry.
Each element (debit or credit) of a (split) transaction is an entry
in the master journal. They used to call them "splits" but Linas started 
using this term recently. Once people get used to it, I think that it will be 
a better descriptor and cause less confusion in the long run.
