RCS-type file handling?

I've been using gnucash for a few weeks, and I'm collecting a large number
of .xac files. Has there been any thought into using rcs to store these,
instead of creating separate files? It would require having the account
data stored in something that diff can parse, and I'm not sure how
difficult that would be. 

Just my .02(USD).
