Hi all,

our 1.9.0 announcement got a little bit of news coverage, which may or may not be interesting for anyone here. Of course, the 1.9.0 release wasn't supposed to be announced everywhere because we clearly said that this was a development release.

Anyway: There is one article on gnomesupport.org http://gnomedesktop.org/node/2585 which has 14 friendly comments.

And there is also a slashdot entry http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/02/09/1853239 , posted by someone I don't know, and (of course) the slashdot "community" of trolls and slashers and a small minority of serious discussions doesn't have too many friendly things to say. Surprisinly enough, a non-negligible fraction of comments is relatively friendly and even seems to have understood the point of an "unstable release, intended for developers and tester", in stark contrast to the majority of "first post" comments :-) . The most fun comments talk about this release being "the end of dependence nightmares" http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=176866&cid=14683053 ; or "I wish I had the time to bug-test v1.9, but I don't, so I'll tip a little more ;-)" http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=176866&cid=14685703 ; or "In general, I dislike the quality of most OSS software, but I like the way GnuCash is run," and "I always get a helpful response... Most of the time, someone named Derek is the one responding " http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=176866&cid=14684200
