Well, the --disable-guppi is a leftover from the pre-1.6 dev tree when guppi was added but before the full gnome-1.4 switch. I was still on a gnome-1.2 tree and had no way of building guppi, so I added the --disable-guppi switch for people like me. Now that guppi practicaly comes with the OSes (and we're not requiring bleeding-edge libraries to build) I think the option can just be removed.. Unless you really see value in the option. It's original purpose is no more.
