I have installed this on several machines without problems.  What
happens if, in a terminal, you run the commands
which gnucash
and
apt-cache policy gnucash
and also when you try to run it from the command line, so again in a
terminal just run
gnucash

In case you don't know, you can copy from the terminal using Ctrl-Shift-C
