I solved my problem. While looking for the password info, I found some lockimng-related files in C:\Users\me\aqbanking\settings\users. They looked like
uid%3a%3a00000001.conf.lck.DigitalStorm-PC-17640 uid%3a%3a00000001.conf.lck I deleted them and the expected behavior returned.
