From a user perspective I see duplicate messages from "D via gnucash-user" for most, but not ALL, of D's posts. I don't recall duplicates from anyone else, but if there have been any it's only been the odd one or two, and not enough to stick in my memory.
I notice D's messages as I retrieve each message in my mail client, Outlook, and they come in next to each other. I've compared the properties of 2 such messages and there's very little difference between them. Mostly the differences are the processing done by my ISP, times and id's etc., which you would expect for 2 separate messages. There's also a difference in the processing done at gnucash.org for messages received from yahoo.com, D's ISP, id's etc., which may indicate gnucash.org is receiving 2 messages. If “D’s” messages are indeed also being duplicated, then that mail agent may again be the issue. Perhaps the outgoing mail server thinks the messages aren’t being acknowledged by the mailman server so it keeps resending. Or the user has a stuck Outbox and the client software itself is doing this. I think a mobile device is involved, so if connectivity/sync is having a problem on an IMAP box, that could be a trigger. Other than those three cases, I’m out of guesses.
