Fran, Can't help you with 1, 2 & 3 but...
4a - if you check the "Create Automatically" option the txn will be auto created WITHIN gnucash. You can also check the "Notify me when created" checkbox and you will get a notification when created. It auto runs when opening your file in Gnucash or you can click on Actions >> Scheduled Transactions >> Since last run... to force it to run now. See the wiki for full details at https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Scheduled_Transactions 4b - sure, I use this for credit card statement reminders although for something like this I prefer Google Calendar :-) You could probably setup an Expenses:Reminders account to use as the account for both sides of the transaction (although if you do this expect to see 2 txns in there) and rely on a scheduled txn notification popping up to remind you? With my CC one side of the transaction is in the CC itself and the other goes to Expenses:Statement Ending Reminder. 4. - No 5 - Yes on Windows 10 you will see a prompt to remove the older version, I can't remember the exact wording but just say OK and it will remove the old version and install the new version. Some people would say backup your Gnucash file here before updating (i.e. just copy the file somewhere). I've never had an issue doing this but I always have a beckup on Dropbox anyway if I were to need it :-) Cheers David H.
