Tony -- just curious -- this seems very similar to the thousand separator issue of entries over $1,000 when you include the thousands separator (comma). If you enter an entry that includes the comma and go to change the entry, it seems GNUCASH crashes -- but not entering the comma the issue does not happen. Would be interested if your behavior is happening on items that are less than $1,000 (i.e., or do not include the separator).
There is a reported issue with the separator issue that I think is already addressed for the next build.
