I had zero knowledge of accounting when I came across GnuCash. (I used to note down transactions and balances in a notebook.)
I was skeptical about whether I could use a double-entry software package like GnuCash. I then came across a document titled "GnuCash Tutorial and Concepts Guide". I found that it beautifully explained everything I needed to start using GnuCash. This was 2009, and I've never looked back.
