Hi Tim Your question has created a lot of discussion but I'm uncertain as to whether it has answered your question. As I understand it, you wanted a report listing (parent) accounts and sub accounts (or "children" accounts) together with their various totals. Have you tried the Account Summary report? It lists all accounts and you can add all sub-accounts and have their total together with main account totals. The Options tab allows you to change how things are displayed/totalled, at what date, etc etc. Check it out if you haven't already. I hope that might be what you were looking for. GnuCash is very useful accounting software for my purposes - thanks to the developers! The more you use it and "play" with it, the more useful you will probably find it. Good luck! Cheers Hop

Quicken used to do this routinely. Is there already an easy way to do this or is this a wish list item?
