On the "Accounts" tab (aka "Chart of Accounts" or "CoA"), if we click on
the downward pointing triangle on the upper right, a menu appears that
enables us to choose which columns appear.

It sounds like you want to view a "Present" column (not a "Balance"
column).

in gnucash 5.12, Under Accounts, Current Assets, I have a cash acct
with a balance of $21,852.30
If click on that cash acct with the blue line highlighted on it---it
shows my entries from beginning of year 10.01/2024 thru 06.30.2025
and the amount of $15,878.08---which is exactly what it is supposed
to be!!!!!!!!!!! Accounts is off $5,974.12
If i go back to Accounts: click reports, assets & liabilities,
balance sheet up pops my $21,852.30 # again. What am i doing wrong?
And this is with the correct date of 06/30/2025!!!! Thank you for
your advice!!!
