I love the Transaction Report. Bring up the Options for the report; when you select an account with sub-accounts, you can use the "select children" option to select all of the children.
No one has mentioned this (perhaps it is too obvious), but once you have the report how you want it, you can save it so you don't have to re-select the account (or accounts) you wish to see. The selector has the arrows to allow accounts to be "rolled up" - do you really have a flat 250 accounts? If so, perhaps you could consider some kind of hierarchy? My main Transaction report covers expenses, so I have all the other high-level accounts (Assets, for example) rolled up. Best wishes to you!
