In Thunderbird -- but not Outlook -- the usual "Reply All" button gets
changed to "Reply List", which actually removes the original sender from
the reply address and instead replies only to the list. "Reply All" is
still an option, but only inside a drop-down menu.

the list. Yes, the list is supposed to catch that and not send its own
copy in that case, but I found it rarely, if ever, works.
It is more important to reply to the *list* than to the individual
poster. (hence the message in the footer)
