My bet would be Yes. My testing just now shows they are saved in 4.14,
and I can't imagine that was lost in 5.x.
The Filter in General Journal is persistent if you tick that box when
setting the filter. (That setting was ignored in 2.6.19, but that bug
was fixed sometime in or before 4.14.) The filter in any account
register is also persistent, and written to the *.gcm file, if you tick
the Save Filter box when creating the filter. (I tested both by closing
GC without closing the register, and by closing the register and GC,
then reopening GC and the register.)
When I changed sort order for one account to Number, ticked "Save Sort
Order" in that dialog, clicked OK, and then closed the book, the line
register_order=BY_NUM
appeared in the .gcm file under the [Register] line for that account.
When I reopened the book, the register order was still by Number.
