I use gnucash in Windows 11 and all of my attached files are attached by my OneDrive account so both my laptop and desktop are sync I only have to wait for the sync to my OneDrive is finished. If I close the computer before the sync is finished the computer will finish the process when I turn the laptop back on. All the best Joseph St Denis

Well, putting transaction attachment files into subdirectories under the attachment root won't work — * …in the case where one is moving a book file between Windows and Linux… * — since Windows & Linux use different path markers. I can assure you from experience that it works fine when the book file remains on a single computer. It even works fine when the book file and associated transactions directory reside in a per-year Finances directory, and the entire book file and transactions directory get copied forward each year to the new per-year Finances directory.
