I've been using the Flatpak version without any problems on Linux Mint 
21.3 for quite a while. I do use PostgreSQL rather than a file, but I 
don't think that should make much of a difference.

Command line requires a little more. E.g. getting quotes with gnucash-cli:

flatpak run --command=gnucash-cli org.gnucash.GnuCash --quotes get 
"${db_url}"
