GnuCash does this.
For prices, it is nice to get FinanceQuote accessory installed. Then, you can
get prices from tools->PriceDatabase->GetQuotes, usually after 6 PM for NAVs to
be updated. It can also be fired from a batch if the interactive app is not
running (no lock file).

Which reminds me to ask: is there any computer program to keep track of stocks
and other investments? We all are using financial programs, but the main
emphasis is on transactions, and not really investments...

Can it be that the problem with stock splits is the lack of a "stock lot"
structure in GNUCash to hold the basis and original acquisition date? Each
stock lot in a split would be split and the basis adjusted. Fractional shares
would be need to be held in the stock lot, and if fractional shares are sold,
the sales may have to be proportionately distributed to the lots, so even inf
the account holdings have no fractional shares, the lots may. If taxability is
a concern, sales need to be allocated to lots, usually oldest first but you may
like short term gains? It seems complicated, but people have been processing
it on paper for a long time.
