Back in (looks at notes) 2020, when I still wasn't sure I wanted to switch
to flatpak, I was worried about losing all my saved reports etc. every time
I switched.

SO I created a symbolic link TO ~/.local/share/gnucash/ FROM
~/.var/app/org.gnucash.Gnucash/data/

I believe the command I used was

$ ln -s ~/.local/share/gnucash/ ~/.var/app/org.gnucash.Gnucash/data/

I didn't expect it to work (because of flatpak sandboxing rules) but it
worked fine. That way I could switch back and forth if needed.

In practice, however, I have not needed to switch back to a .deb
installation of GnuCash. Not that flatpaks are perfect -- there are quirks
to handle -- but overall it's an easy way to install and upgrade GnuCash.

BEFORE YOU DO THIS be sure to verify the locations are correct for your
system. You'll also need to move the "target" directory (if it exists)
before you can put a symlink there.
